Links

Throughout my posts I added links to various webpages but thought it might be helpful to have an alphabetical list to make them quicker and easier to find. I’ve also added some links here that I did not include in my journal entries because they provide excellent information for those who cannot travel to Israel. This list of links is not comprehensive for Israel or all the places on our itinerary. Any web search will find hundreds more websites, including other blogs, some with videos.

Places We Toured

Enjoy an encounter with Abraham, Eliezer his servant, and camels(!)—and a delicious dinner.

Try St. Peter's fish at the restaurant in this beautiful cultural and social center located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

Learn all about diamonds at the factory and showroom in Tiberias.

See the multimedia presentation we viewed; click on “The Show” tab.

Ponder the meaning of the resurrection at one of the most peaceful places in Jerusalem. See also Jerusalem.com below for three short videos about the Garden Tomb.

Visit the Israel Museum's special exhibition about Herod the Great. Since this is not a permanent exhibit, this website may not always be available.

Explore an absolute treasure trove of media about Jerusalem when you go to this site! Besides videos on the Garden Tomb (and other places), it has articles about numerous topics, both historical and current, a news tab, a 3-D photo section, an interactive map, travel information about hotels, and much more. I highly recommend it!

Watch videos on the discovery and preservation of this first-century boat found buried in the mud of the Sea of Galilee. Discover explanations of Jewish holidays under the “Learning Center” tab.

Taste different dates, purchase spices and herbal mixes or date honey.

Experience life as it was during the time of Jesus at one of my favorite places in Israel!

Silver Amulet
Choose one or more of the links below to learn about the work at Ketef Hinnom and the silver amulets, one of the “top ten” discoveries in Biblical archaeology. The silver amulets from the seventh century are inscribed with the priestly blessing from Numbers 6:24-26. At this time they are the oldest Scriptures found and predate the Dead Sea Scrolls by 400 years.

Go with Danny the Digger to the Ketef Hinnon tombs in this five-minute video and learn about the discovery of the silver amulets and riches from the time of Jeremiah. Danny Herman gives tours and maintains an informational website on Israel.

Hear a lecturer tell the importance of the silver amulets in this You Tube four-minute video.

Discover more details about the amulets on this "Parchment and Pen Blog" sponsored by Credo House Ministries.

One More

When leading tours to Mesoamerica (Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and parts of Honduras) we make our own travel arrangements, but for Israel we worked with Pilgrim Tours. We did not take one of their tours, but they helped us with arrangements in Israel.
